After obtaining a Computer Studies degree at John Moores University I established myself as a web developer at Gardiner-Caldwell Communications. In my four years there I specialised in Microsoft technologies on a range of project types for major international clients such as GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis and Pfizer.
In 2004 I joined McCann Erickson where I worked for over five years, strengthening my skills as a web developer and becoming Development Manager in 2007. In my time with McCann Erickson I worked on many global advertising campaigns for brands such as American Airlines, Aldi, Durex, Scholl and UPS.
As well as web and email development I managed the web development team, scoped projects (inc. technical and functional specifications, sitemaps, wireframes, user journeys and timing plans) and worked directly with clients and suppliers as well as freelance resource. During this time I developed a keen interest in search engine optimisation, usability and accessibility and ran website audits across Europe.
In 2009 I moved to BJL, an independent advertising agency, where my role is to head up the web development team, push forward the latest standards and web development techniques and strengthen the online offering on a whole. Clients I’ve worked with so far include Asda, Money Supermarket and Pilkington.

The Aldi retail sites for the UK and Ireland are Aldi’s primary internet websites for these countries. They cover the main ranges and services Aldi offer as well as the biweekly special offers.
The sites were built in RedDot CMS. As the lead developer I worked on the technical and functional specifications for these sites and put the front-end website together. I was then responsible for training the production team who maintain
the website.

Aldi Recruitment UK & Aldi Recruitment Ireland
Aldi Recruitment for UK and Ireland gives useful information on both Aldi’s graduate recruitment program and their in-store employment opportunities. The sites show what is required, what is involved as well as video case studies and allow the user to apply online.
On this project I was responsible for much of the front-end build and lead the development of the graduate application form that allows applicants to save their applications and view its progress. This form is also coupled with an administration site for processing and reporting on the applications.

American Airlines – My American Adventure
American Airlines Summer Sweepstake took the form of My American Adventure. Users could to register to take part in weekly competitions that comprised of answering a question based on that week’s featured destination. Answering correctly for each destination resulted in being entered into the grand prize draw.
I was lead developer on this project and was responsible for technical and functional specification, database design, website build and testing.

E&K Solicitors & Estate Agents
This website was built for the estate agent wing of E&K and links in to their property database, allowing site users to search for properties to rent or buy. The website is content managed and allows E&K to give tailored content to their customers on an individual basis.
I was responsible for the technical and functional specifications, database design, website build and building the CMS that populated the main content areas of the website.

The English Provender Company’s website features product and company information, recipes and news. There is also the opportunity to sign up to the newsletter and enter regular competitions.

Homespace provides a variety of professional styling services including home staging, styling and decluttering.

InHealth is a leading provider of diagnostic and imaging services in the UK. The website provides information for both doctors and patients.
As lead developer I was responsible for the technical and functional specifications and website build.

Jetpac Magazine is a free PDF culture magazine, featuring photography, illustration, design, comedy, poetry, interviews and reviews.
I was responsible for the build of this website and regularly contribute to the magazine’s content and the ongoing development of this project.

Magnet are a nationwide kitchen design and fitting company. Their website allows users to browse their product rage, the appliances and services available, as well as view price and store information.
As part of a team I designed and developed many areas of this website.

Manchester Airport – Discover
Discover is an online travel magazine for Manchester Airport featuring articles on promoted destinations, special offers and competitions.
As lead developer I was responsible for the technical and functional specifications, database design, website build and maintenance.

McCann Erickson Communications House
MECH is a full service advertising agency located in the north west. Their website is based around a blog that is regularly updated with the work the company does and articles of interest to their clients.
As the lead developer I sourced the blog solution and implemented the site design and structure.

Scholl Flight Socks
Scholl’s Flight Socks product helps prevent DVT occurring during aeroplane flights. The site gives details on the condition of DVT and the products available to prevent it. The site also had eCommerce functionality allowing customers to buy online.

Scholl Footcare Australia, France, India & UK
This suite of websites covers several of Scholl’s primary countries of business. The websites give product and company information as well as a wealth of advice on foot problems and solutions.
My role varied from site to site but I generally had a large influence on site design and structure as well as actively developing many areas in all sites.

Scholl Partyfeet
Scholl’s Partyfeet products are designed to ease the pain of wearing high heels for extended periods of time. This site not only gave users details of the product but also reviewed party venues around the world allowing users to submit their own reviews and photographs.
Working with other developers I developed many areas of this site, including the party venue review section.

Scholl Shoes International
This suite of websites covers the majority of Scholl’s primary countries of business within Europe. The sites allow users to browse their product ranges as well as get the latest news, find out about the different shoe technologies and where to buy the shoes and sandals.
Working in a team I developed many sections of the public websites as well as the bespoke CMS that allows the country administrators to update their product line-up from the global product list.

Specifically for the UK market, this site gives visitors information on Scholl’s seasonal collections, the technologies used in their products, a store locator, latest news and online shop.
